Itinerary
Your adventure begins at 9:00 AM in the heart of Cusco at the Main Square, where the echoes of the ancient Andean Culture still resonate. From there, we’ll visit Qoricancha, the most important Inca temple, known for its stunning architecture and spiritual significance.
Afterward, we’ll board our comfortable tourist bus and head to four remarkable archaeological sites on the outskirts of the city:
- Sacsayhuamán: Explore the immense terraces and temples of this ceremonial fortress, a symbol of Inca engineering and mysticism.
- Q’enqo: Discover the enigmatic rock formations and winding paths of this ancient ceremonial site, once used for rituals and astronomical observations.
- Puca Pucara: Visit the military fortress with its impressive stone terraces and staircases, which once protected the city.
- Tambomachay: Conclude the day at this sacred water temple, where you’ll find fascinating terraces and ancient fountains still flowing with water, a tribute to Incan reverence for nature.
At the end of the tour, you’ll return to the city, rich with the knowledge of these iconic landmarks that have shaped Cusco’s incredible history.
Today, you’ll embark on a journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, located at 2,790 meters above sea level. This picturesque valley, once the heart of the Inca Empire’s agriculture, is home to several fascinating archaeological sites. The Sacred Valley is also famous for its stunning natural beauty and vibrant traditions.
Our first stop is Chinchero, a town known for its traditional textiles and ceramics. Here, you’ll visit a colonial church that houses exquisite paintings from the 15th and 17th centuries, showcasing the town’s rich cultural history.
Next, we’ll head to Moray, an Inca agricultural research center. Explore its circular terraces, believed to have been used for farming experiments at various altitudes.
Afterward, we’ll visit the Maras Salt Mines, where you can marvel at thousands of salt pools, each owned by local families. These pools have been used for salt extraction for centuries, and during the dry season, the salt is treated with iodine and sold in local markets.
In Urubamba, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing to Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca town with impressive stone structures and terraces that date back to the 15th century.
From Ollantaytambo, we’ll take an afternoon train to Machu Picchu Town (train travel takes approximately two hours). Upon arrival, our transfer will take you to your hotel for check-in. In the evening, your guide will meet you for a briefing about your visit to Machu Picchu the following day.
This is the day you’ve been waiting for – your visit to the world-famous Machu Picchu. Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up from your hotel and take a 30-minute bus ride to the Machu Picchu Citadel.
Once there, you’ll enjoy a guided tour lasting approximately two and a half hours. Your professional guide will lead you through the most iconic sites within the citadel, including the Guardian’s House, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Intihuatana (sun dial), the Acllahuasi (house of the chosen women), the Temple of the Condor, and the sacred water fountains.
After exploring Machu Picchu, you’ll take the bus back to the town for some free time to relax and enjoy lunch.
In the afternoon, you’ll board the train for the return journey to Ollantaytambo (approximately two hours). Be sure to be at the station at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure.
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo Station, a transfer will be waiting for you to take you back to Cusco (approximately two hours).
This marks the end of your Machu Picchu adventure.
Get ready for a breathtaking adventure as we head to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), a stunning natural wonder known for its vibrant, multi-colored slopes. Located at an altitude of 5,100 meters above sea level in the Vilcanota mountain range, this remarkable landscape offers a truly unique experience.
