Code of Conduct Against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents

In accordance with Law No. 28251, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) has established a policy against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (ESNNA). As part of this initiative, the ESNNA Code and Xplora Machu Picchu have entered into a joint action agreement to prevent and eradicate this issue.

Therefore, we declare that:

We reject the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESNNA) in Peru and worldwide, particularly in its form associated with travel and tourism. This practice violates fundamental human rights and contradicts the core objectives of tourism activities in our country.

We denounce and condemn those who take advantage of tourism, its facilities, and services to promote, facilitate, or tolerate the occurrence of child sexual exploitation.

In light of the above, Xplora Machu Picchu formally adheres to this Code of Conduct against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in the tourism sector.

This Code is a formal declaration of voluntary commitment aimed at establishing ethical guidelines for all individuals working at Xplora Machu Picchu, ensuring the protection of children and adolescents from all forms of sexual exploitation and human trafficking linked to travel and tourism.

Our Commitments

To take the necessary measures to protect children and adolescents from sexual exploitation, we commit to:

  • Maintaining an ethical policy that rejects the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in the context of travel and tourism.
  • Informing and training our staff about the company’s policies regarding the prevention of child sexual exploitation in tourism and travel.
  • Displaying visible symbols that alert customers and providers about our stance against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism.
  • Including a clause in contracts with tourism service providers declaring our shared rejection of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. The following statement will be used:

«Tourism promotes a childhood and adolescence free from sexual exploitation; therefore, we do not accept any act that supports the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.»
